The Ministry of Education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia provides educational services to more than 7 million male and female students at all levels of general and university education. This comes amidst a qualitative leap in Saudi education across various fields and stages, aiming to improve its outputs and outcomes to meet the demands and changes of the modern era.
Education is a national priority in the Kingdom and is considered a means of investing in the sons and daughters of the nation, as well as a key driver for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. It focuses on developing the educational stage, aiming to prepare young people for early entry into the labor market, develop students' skills, and support a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship. This is achieved through developing plans and curricula, adding new subjects, and implementing numerous initiatives and programs, such as: applying a specialized tracks system in secondary school and increasing the percentage of female teachers assigned to teach boys in kindergartens. The development of the Kingdom's education system coincides with future needs, national and global trends, and the objectives of the Human Capability Development Program and Saudi Vision 2030. The Kingdom has achieved advanced results in several international indicators and global competitiveness reports related to education, improved its ranking in scientific research indicators, and raised the ranking of Saudi universities in global classifications. The Kingdom has also given significant attention to scholarships, by governing its procedures and developing its tools to serve students studying at international universities within the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Scholarship Program.
The King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity "Mawhiba" aims to discover and nurture gifted and creative students in scientific fields of developmental priority, and to build a system for giftedness and creativity locally, regionally, and globally. This stems from its vision of empowering giftedness and creativity as the fundamental pillars of human prosperity, and its clear mission to create an environment that stimulates giftedness and creativity and fosters a passion for science and knowledge to build future leaders and serve humanity.
Through its objectives and the development of its strategic plans for nurturing giftedness and creativity, supporting innovation, and guided by best global practices and with the contribution of international and local experts, Mawhiba seeks to actively contribute to achieving the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030. The plan included developing a methodology A scientific program for discovering and nurturing gifted students through the "National Program for Gifted Student Identification," which, over 13 years, has identified more than 180,000 male and female students from all cities of the Kingdom, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education. Mawhiba offers 20 different initiatives to nurture gifted students, benefiting thousands of talented individuals annually. These initiatives represent a comprehensive national database of the nation's brightest minds. Mawhiba's participation and support of these students have borne fruit, as evidenced by the Kingdom's international achievements in scientific competitions, with Saudi students winning over 700 medals and awards. Furthermore, more than 1,000 of these students have been accepted into the top 50 prestigious international universities in specialized fields.
